Kathy Winslow

Kathy is the owner of the Norman & OKC Just Between Friends sale.
Kathy has been married to Rob for fifteen years, and they have three children: Lauren (13 yrs.), Nathan (10 yrs.), and Luke (5 yrs.). Kathy says, "I have an incredible family which makes me feel happy and fulfilled. I am grateful for a family that supports my interests. Although being a stay-at-home mom is the best job I could have, I love running my own business."
They are very involved in church and school activities. Their children enjoy participating on athletic teams. Rob stays busy teaching at Rose State College and coaching their kid’s teams. Kathy loves good food, great friends and interesting books. She tries to make time in her schedule to scrapbook because it enables her to use photography, which she truly enjoys, and it fills her need for creativity. Although she doesn't get to scrapbook as often as she would like, she loves looking through magazines to get creative picture ideas. Many of the ideas have helped her in her business...making signs, writing letters, making fliers, helping the sale look aesthetically pleasing. She enjoys visiting her family in Indianapolis (2 sisters and 2 brothers). They also spend two weeks each summer in the mountains of Colorado. Kathy says, "It's a great time to relax and enjoy my family.” So, basically my involvement's focus around God, family, and friends (and twice a year I focus on the sale, the sale, the sale).
It was on a typical Friday morning garage sale run when I spotted a sign for a children's clothing sale in my neighborhood in Tulsa. I couldn't resist! I went to Daven and Shannon's first sale (they actually priced items for their consignor's at the first sale!). I bought a cute pair of Mary Jane shoes, signed up on the mailing list and have been hooked ever since. As I saw the sale over the next year I was impressed and knew it was an awesome event that moms absolutely loved to be a part of.

I moved to Norman, Oklahoma a year later and realized that starting a sale like JBF of Tulsa would be an incredible opportunity, since there were no sales of its kind in the area. I can still remember the feeling of excitement at the prospect of starting a business like JBF. I had been looking for a job that would provide extra income for my family without keeping me away from them.  I knew that this was the answer to my prayers. I had worked in a children's consignment store in Tulsa and, at the time, I still chose to consign my clothes with JBF. I knew that I could make more money at a JBF sale and have more control over the pricing of my clothes. I wanted to give that same opportunity to moms in the Norman area. The first sale in Norman was started in the Spring of 1999.
The best thing about owning a JBF sale is that you are in business for yourself, but not by yourself.  This sale has been more successful than I could have ever imagined. I find great joy in organizing an event that runs well and helps other moms. I love hearing feedback from moms who have been blessed by the sale. I want my consignors to continue to increase their profits and have a fun time in the process. I am also thankful that through this business we have been able to help needy families in our community financially, and with donated clothing. Above all, I thank God for orchestrating the steps I took to start this business and giving me the opportunity to make new relationships that I hope will glorify Him.
